Growing younger.
Everyday that I grow older,
I grow younger.
A tree sheds the leaf of life,
I learn to use my carving knife,
To cut the mango,
Through the heart.
And steal bread
From baker's cart.
Everyday that I grow older,
I grow younger.
Breaking news reveals life,
I scramble for my carving knife,
To hide below my pillowed bed,
Whist Disney plays into my head.
Everyday that I grow older,
I grow younger.
A snowflake falls upon the ground,
A car slips, with lethal sound.
I scramble for my bloody head,
See teddy sitting on my bed.
The light is dark, I see my dream,
I smile and I solemnly scream.
Everyday that I grow older,
I grow younger.
A nightmare scars my perfect life,
I push away, and then I fight.
Smiling at what shouldn't be,
I make myself a cup of tea.
To calm a scrambled mind of mine -
Ignoring that it is bed time.
Everyday that I grow older,
I grow innocent.
With desktop once a handsome man,
Displaying now a prince's hand.
Beneath a grave I seldom seek,
Guidance from the drowned and weak.
This time I have come to play,
With Little Pony for the day.
Everyday that I grow older,
I grow younger.
So as cartoon lights a screen,
I see what is, not what has been.
A tear streaks but does not place,
A line upon my adult face.
A child holds a hand to vein,
Says prayer to an Atheist stain.
I look into a mirror scene
I see what is, not what has been.
Everyday that I grow older,
I grow younger.
